At the department of the English language and literature of Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh there was held the next session of  Reading  Club,   dedicated to prominent  American writer’s book “Little Women” by  Louisa May Alcott. The book was taken under hot discussion, although all the students managed to wrap up the deep meaning and the message of the book.

 Louisa began writing the book at the request of the publication house of Boston which was connected to the adult girls. She took as the scenery of the book real incidents that happened at her own family. Her elder sister was depicted as a prototype of Meg while her own character was portrayed as a Joe. Her little sisters were described as Elizabeth and May.

The book is appreciated for the reason that it favored young readers to come to right decisions by admitting their mistakes on time through explicitly drawing her characters not only merits but also their demerits. Readers have the opportunity to notice easily all distinctions between good and evil deeds by attempts made by the figures. The sole peculiarity that differentiates the book from others is that the author expressed one could find happiness in modest life without striving to the wealth.

One can learn to become kind hearted and caring as well as to realize that fiscal stuff has no significance in relationships through the character of Meg. Meg, the oldest of the sisters and the most beautiful. She is kind, sophisticated, takes care of the good reputation of the family. However, Meg has some bad traits. She is burdened by poverty, she dreams of getting into high society to shine in beautiful outfits. Over time, the girl realizes that happiness is not about money.

Joe, the second sister is one year younger than the eldest. She is fifteen years old. Joe regrets not being born a boy. Climbing trees, running, skating, playing with boys gives her more joy than women’s conversations. The girl writes stories and dreams of becoming a writer.

Beth, besides the angelic nature is no different. Because of her timid disposition, it is difficult for her to meet people. She has no ambition, like other sisters.  She has no ambition, like other sisters. The joy and meaning of life for her lies in the happiness of the family. She is ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of her family.

Amy, the youngest sister is the most spoiled. She is pretty on her face and is proud of it. Selfishness, temper and vanity – its second nature. However, a good upbringing makes the girl constantly restrain herself. Amy dreams of becoming an artist.

Unlike other books that impose a chic lifestyle, Louisa Alcott’s novel “Little Women” teaches you to find joy in a simple honest life. Students pointed out that while reading a book, you feel peace and quiet. It is like a summer breeze, refreshing and beneficial. The work is not only instructive, but also fun. Funny, touching stories that are best remembered are constantly happening with the sisters.
