January 11 – International Day of Nature Reserves and National Parks

Every year, January 11 is celebrated as the “International Day of Nature Reserves and National Parks.” This date has been celebrated since 1997 thanks to the initiative of the Center for the Protection of Wild Animals and the World Wildlife Fund with the aim of developing a system of protected natural areas, protecting the natural environment, and also attracting the attention of the general public to the problem of conservation and restoration of many species of fauna and flora, including endangered species.

In connection with this date, a scientific seminar was organized at the Faculty of Biology on January 11. The scientific seminar was attended by specialists from the Southern Ustyurt National Natural Park, the Sudoche-Akpetki Nature Reserve, the Lower Amudarya State Biosphere Reserve, the Prialya National Natural Park, the Barsakelmes State Natural Reserve, as well as professors and teachers from the Faculty of Biology.

During the seminar, specialists, professors and teachers in their reports noted the importance of this day, the work being carried out today in this area, the state of biological diversity in the conditions of Karakalpakstan, the conditions created for scientific research, and interesting information was also provided, received during the spring-autumn counting period.

At the end of the seminar, the seminar participants received answers to all their questions. The event was interesting and in high spirits.
